Charles Russell Phillips

Charles Russell Phillips, 82, a resident of Falmouth for more than 50 years, died on August 20 at the JML Care Center in Falmouth.
He was born and raised in Roslindale, the son of Charles W. Phillips and Florence Irene Saunders.
Known as Red, he spent a long civilian career at Otis Air Force Base, from which he retired in 1989.
Mr. Phillips was active in his Christian faith and a longtime member at the Falmouth Baptist Church, where he drove the Sunday School van for many years in order to bring children to church. He was also a devoted fan of the Boston sports teams.
He is survived by one son, Scott Phillips of Rutland, Vermont; two daughters, Melanie Faulkner of Stratham, New Hampshire, and Laura Perkins of Swampscott; four grandchildren, Timothy and Olivia Faulkner and Spencer and Quinn Perkins; one sister, Elaine Buker, of Lillian, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Doris DeFuria and Pauline Foley.
Visitation is Friday from 4 to 7 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at the Falmouth Baptist Church on Central Park Avenue.
