Emily S. (Steere) Andrews

Emily S. (Steere) Andrews, 70, of Mashpee, who leaves family in Falmouth, died on August 21 at Harborside Healthcare in Mashpee.
She was the wife of Robert C. Andrews for 48 years.
Mrs. Andrews spent her childhood on Martha’s Vineyard and attended the Oak Bluffs schools. She graduated from Bridgewater State College.
She worked as an elementary school teacher, and was also a preschool teacher in Keene, New Hampshire, for 10 years.
With her husband, she co-managed the Sandy Island Family Camp for the Greater Boston YMCA on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of the Gourmet Diners Club.
She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and traveling through the United States and Europe.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her sons, Michael and Peter Andrews of San Francisco; a grandchild, Benjamin Andrews; six sisters, Shirley M. Smith of Vineyard Haven, Gloria Steere of Oak Bluffs, Janet Packish of Falmouth, Nancy Howes of Dennis, Florence Olsen of Centerville, and Rosemary Finley of Alabama; and two brothers, David Steere of West Tisbury and Stephen Steere of Georgia.
She was the mother of the late David Andrews and the sister of the late Marilyn Shannon and the late Jesse Steere.
The visitation will be from 10 to 11:30  AM tomorrow in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Avenue at Route 151 in Mashpee, followed at noon by a funeral Mass in the Parish of Christ the King at Mashpee Commons.
Burial will be on Thursday at 1 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Tisbury.
