Sidney E. Brandreth, 91, of East Falmouth died on November 12 at Falmouth Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Edith (Hilditch) Brandreth.
Mr. Brandreth grew up in Providence, the son of Thomas and Catherine (Grimes) Brandreth.
During World War II, he served in the US Army, seeing action in the European, African, and Middle Eastern theaters.
Before moving to Falmouth in 1983, he lived in Attleboro for 25 years. There he worked for the school department for the city in a career that spanned 26 years.
Mr. Brandreth was the past commander of VFW Post 115 in Attleboro and the War Veterans Council, also in Attleboro.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Shirley Gorman of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Marilyn Prentice of Millville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 9 AM on Monday at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.
Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
