FALMOUTH- Mysterious postcards received by Falmouth Town Meeting members last week have also turned up in mailboxes this week in Amherst and Brookline.
Last week at the November Annual Town Meeting, numerous Falmouth Town Meeting members said they received mysterious postcards postmarked from Nashville, Tennessee, from “A concerned citizen,” who advised them to attend the Town Meeting session.
There were two different, though similar, texts on the postcards. In one, the postcard sender wrote that attendance records would be sent to all town residents. In the other, the postcard writer stated that votes would be recorded and distributed.
Falmouth Town Moderator David T. Vieira said this morning that he received an e-mail from the town moderator in Amherst asking if any other moderators had heard about the postcards.
Mr. Vieira wrote back that he had. Mr. Vieira said the town moderator in Brookline has reported that Town Meeting members in that town have also received both version of the cards. As is the practice in Falmouth, the Brookline Town Meeting attendance is published on the town website. In Falmouth, attendance is also published in The Falmouth Enterprise, and the list appeared in last Friday’s paper.
Officials say the mystery is no closer to being solved, but the plot thickens.
